The Heidelberg Speedmaster XL is no ordinary printing press; with set-up times dramatically reduced and running speeds doubled our ability to react to urgent requests will improve even further. It doesn’t end there either, 15,000 sheets per hour, UV ink drying, inline spot uv effect, and much more.

We can boast some fit staff here at Emmersons and several of them regularly run a 10k here and there. But, Simon Mort one of our Heidelberg XL operators took running to whole new level when he competed in the Paris marathon, finishing in a very respectable 3 hours 33 minutes. Asked what he thought was the highlight of the race he replied ‘After running in a constant 24 degree heat, the highlight was finishing’. Simon is looking forward to running in the next Paris marathon and has already applied to run in the London marathon in 2012.  Asked if he had any advice for potential marathon runners he advised that ‘They should do it their way’.

Jo Roberts has joined us as our receptionist. If her voice
sounds familiar you may have heard her on local BBC radio
where she used to be a regular on Tuesday nights or
heard her at an open mic poetry night somewhere in
Warwickshire. When she’s not asking how she can help
you, she is busy evenings and weekends writing, running
workshops or organising spoken word events in the region.
After working for many years in design studios she said
‘It’s a challenge to be working for the other side’.

After over 12 years of travelling the region daily, delivering and collecting from our clients and suppliers, Alan has now traded in his daily workout carrying boxes of print, for a well deserved retirement. Not that he’s going to slow down – his retirement gift was a Wii fit!.  Asked if he was looking forward to a change of pace he replied laughing, ‘I’ll be busier than ever catching up on all the jobs I’ve put off over the years’. He was popular with both staff and clients and was always ready with a helping hand and an endless supply of amusing tales. We wish him well.

The Children’s Ward at Warwick Hospital has been given a cash injection thanks to the efforts of a group of workmates at a local printing company.

Directors John and Jamie Emmerson led the way as a team of seven staff from Kenilworth-based Emmersons completed the 10km Two Castles Run in June this year.

The firm has just finished totting up the sponsorship money it received and it ended up in excess of £1,000.
It will now be spent on two new chairs that can be converted into beds for parents who stay on the ward overnight with their children.

John said: “I was really pleased with the fact that all seven of us completed the course and we will look at putting in a team again next year”. “We wrote to our clients and suppliers before the run and many of them agreed to sponsor us – although some did it on a personal level rather than a corporate level which was quite touching.

“Also, our staff all went off and got sponsorship of their own so we managed to raise well over £800 and Jamie and I decided to make up the rest.
“A couple of the guys here have had personal experience of the Children’s Ward at Warwick and said what a great job they do, so we thought it was an ideal beneficiary for the money we raised.”

Liz Waters, of Warwick Hospital, said: “We are extremely grateful for this gesture of support from Emmerson Press.
“It’s great when a local company opts to assist our fundraising efforts and we will put the money towards our special chairs that are turned into beds for those parents staying overnight.

“They are absolutely vital to make the stay for parents as comfortable as possible when their children are on the ward.”
